Any of you nerds going to be at Boston Comic Con tomorrow?  I’ll be there with some of my friends, I’m going as Nightwing!

mirathen: Hey, you recommended Blade Runner (a favorite of mine), but the final cut (which I've never seen), I was wondering if you'd ever seen the version with the voice overs? That version isn't very accessible though because Ford and Ridley hated it, but I'm also a fan of detective noir stories so I liked the vo's. Really great movie either way!

I’ve seen parts of that version, and I can appreciate the ties to classic noir film, but I feel that the mood and atmosphere which is at the heart of Blade Runner is projected more clearly without the voice overs.  I can understand their appeal though!  If you haven’t seen the final cut, I would recommend it, especially if you are a fan of the film.

Anonymous: Are you a lucid dreamer?

I really wish I was.  I tried several years ago to train myself to dream lucidly, but it didn’t work.  I’ll most likely try again in the future, it’s an ability I would love to possess.  Being able to appreciate and experience my dreams fully would take away most of the pain of waking up from them.

casie-mod said: Sounds lovely. At least through art, I feel it’s possible to make some of that true

If I was a better artist, I would probably do the same.  I try to write my dreams down when I wake up, but sometimes the dream was so long and complex that by the time I’m a third of the way through writing it, the finer details of the dream have slipped through my fingers.

As my dreams get more vivid and believable, I get sadder upon waking and realizing that they were the facade and this is reality

To think I’m not the only who has extremely vivid dreams and doesn’t like waking from them. In my dreams I’m living the life I can’t have here, I can visit alien worlds and live amazing lives all in the span of a nights sleep. I don’t like waking up at all.

Exactly.  I only wish I could appreciate those journeys while they were occurring, rather than after they end

casie-mod said: what do you dream about, if i may ask?

Lately I’ve dreamt about being alive in different time periods or universes.  I don’t always remember my dreams, but the ones that I can recall are always exciting.  In my dreams I’m always involved in something grand and exciting: contrasted with my life now, I feel like I’m living a very dull existence when I awaken.  I’ll also dream about people or relationships in my life as I wish they were.  Those are the hardest to wake up to.
